Working at Kuro
Kuro is a cat-only hotel inside a conserved Chinatown shophouse, where the scheduling and admin are handled quietly behind the scenes, so the team on the floor can give their full attention to the cat in front of them. Fear Free handling and the AAFP & ISFM guidelines are how we train, not what makes the job interesting.
What makes it interesting: we have never once hired someone who didn't already have an opinion about voids versus tabbies.
Training & Growth
New team members complete the AVS-appointed "Pet Care and Management (Animal Boarders)" course, the same course our AVS boarding licence rests on, plus hands-on Fear Free handling training alongside the existing team. After that, the learning curve is mostly reps: more cats, more personalities, more of the judgement calls that come with running a licensed boarding facility.

Cat Hotel Executive
Full-time
Run the floor day to day: check-ins, daily care, and keeping owners in the loop while their cat stays with us.
What you'll do
- Feed and, once trained, medicate cats on schedule, following each cat's individual care plan
- Clean suites and common areas twice daily to Fear Free and AVS standards
- Run one-on-one play and enrichment sessions with every guest
- Watch for changes in appetite, litter habits or behaviour and flag them early
- Send owners photo and video updates during the stay
- Handle check-in and check-out, including handovers with Charlotte and the vet where needed
Who we're looking for
- A genuine cat lover, comfortable handling cats you've only just met
- Calm and observant. You're the one who notices the cat gone quiet in the corner
- Reliable. Cats don't care that your train was late
- Ready to complete the AVS boarding course and Fear Free handling training
Part-time Cat Caretaker
Part-time
Cover shifts feeding, cleaning and playing with our guests, working alongside the full-time team.
What you'll do
- Feed cats on schedule and keep water and litter topped up
- Clean suites and common areas to Fear Free and AVS standards
- Play and enrichment time with guests during your shift
- Note anything off in a cat's appetite, litter habits or mood and pass it on to the full-time team
- Help capture photo updates for owners
Who we're looking for
- A genuine cat lover who wants regular shifts, not a one-off
- Comfortable following a Fear Free care plan someone else has written
- Reliable and on time. Shifts run to a schedule the cats depend on
- Ready to complete the AVS boarding course and Fear Free handling training
