What to Pack for Your Cat's Boarding Stay in Singapore

What to bring for a cat boarding stay in Singapore: how much food to pack, bedding, medication, documents, and what a cat hotel already supplies.

By Charlotte · Founder••5 min read

Pack your cat's usual food with a 10% buffer, one thing that smells of home, any medication in its original packaging with written instructions, and the paperwork. Litter and filtered water are looked after at the hotel. Beyond that list the bag is optional. Below is each item and why it is there.

What do you need to bring for a cat boarding stay?

Your cat is about to lose its room, its smells and its household. Food and scent are the two things you can carry across. The table shows what comes from you and what the hotel already has.

You bringWe provide
Your cat's usual food, wet and/or dryPremium dust-free tofu litter
A favourite blanket, bed or unwashed piece of clothingFiltered water, topped up through the day
Medication in original packaging, with written instructionsA private suite, cleaned twice a day
Grooming tools, if your cat needs specific groomingOne-on-one play every day, or quiet company for cats who prefer space
Vaccination, sterilisation, microchip and AVS licence recordsA daily photo or video, and a private suite camera

The boarding terms carry the same list in the order a first-timer needs it.

How much food should you pack?

Bring enough of your cat's usual food for every day of the stay, plus an extra 10%. The buffer is there in case plans change. Wet or dry, pack what your cat eats at home, in the same brand and format, because a new diet on top of a new place adds a second change.

A worked example: a cat who eats two 85 g pouches a day on a seven-night stay needs 14 pouches, so pack 16. If you feed dry food by weight, measure the whole stay's worth and add the tenth. If it helps you, put each day's portion in its own labelled bag. The care plan records the food brand and the feeding times, and the two-week preparation checklist covers when to fill it in.

What helps a cat settle into a new suite?

A cat reads a room through its nose, and in my experience a suite that smells of home does more for a nervous guest than any toy. A favourite blanket or bed works. So does a t-shirt you have worn and not washed.

A favourite toy or two is fine. Leave anything you would be upset to lose at home.

Do you need to bring litter, bowls or grooming tools?

We provide premium dust-free tofu litter, so most cats need nothing from home. If your cat is particular about its brand, bring it. Grooming is the other exception: if your cat needs specific grooming, bring the tools you use so the routine stays the same. Filtered water and twice-daily suite cleaning are part of the nightly rate, which is on the pricing page.

What about medication?

Bring medication in its original packaging with the dose and times written down. Confirm the arrangement with us before you book, because medication has its own fee and care times fit the hours the team is on site, 9am to 7pm. We give oral and topical medication, subcutaneous fluids and injections under your vet's plan. For fluids and injections you supply the medication, the fluids and the equipment. Boarding a cat on medication sets out how it works.

Which documents go in the bag?

These are checked at or before check-in, and a cat that does not meet them may be refused admission.

The vaccination and parasite requirements article goes through each one.

What happens on the day?

Check-in is by appointment, from 3pm to 6pm, and we hold 15 minutes for each one. Bring your cat in a carrier with a light towel over the top and sides, because there is less to look at and less to react to. Hand over the food, the scented item and any medication, say any last notes out loud, and keep the goodbye short.
