Cat Vaccination and Parasite Requirements for Boarding in Singapore

Which vaccines, sterilisation, FIV/FeLV records and parasite prevention a Singapore cat hotel asks for, what Kuro requires at check-in, and what to ask your vet.

Before a cat hotel in Singapore takes your cat, it will ask for proof of the core vaccines, sterilisation for older cats, an FIV/FeLV result if you want your cat to use a common play area, and parasite prevention, either given at check-in or shown with proof of recent treatment. At Kuro these are written into our boarding terms, and the two that people trip over are the vaccination proof and the parasite dose. This page sets out what we ask for, why, and what to raise with your own vet while there is still time to fix a gap.

What does a cat need to board at Kuro?

The table below is the admission section of our boarding terms. The PDF there is the authoritative version; this is the plain-language reading of it.

WhatWhat we ask for
Core vaccinesProtection against feline panleukopenia (FPV), calicivirus (FCV) and herpesvirus (FHV), shown by proof of a booster or a VacciCheck antibody titre
KittensAt least one core vaccine, and 10 weeks or older on check-in
SterilisationCats 8 months or older, or showing signs of sexual maturity
Microchip and AVS licenceFrom 1 September 2026, every cat is microchipped and holds a valid AVS licence; send us the licence number and the licence document before check-in
Parasite preventionInternal and external, given at check-in or shown with proof of treatment within the past 30 days
Health on arrivalNo fleas, ticks or mites, no fungal infection, and no signs of active illness, injury or pain
FIV/FeLVA negative result for access to the common play area, with your prior consent

If a medical reason prevents your cat from being vaccinated, we ask for a vet memo instead. That is a letter from your vet, and it is worth asking for well before the week of travel.

Vaccination: what proof do we look for?

The three core viruses in the terms are the ones an FVRCP vaccine covers. You can show us either a current booster record or a VacciCheck antibody titre, which is a blood test that measures your cat's antibody levels. Either route satisfies the requirement as written.

Our terms do not put a number of months on how recent a booster must be, so we will not invent one here. If your cat's record is close to running out, or you cannot tell from the card, WhatsApp us a photo of the page and we will tell you whether it works. Your vet is the right person to say when your particular cat is due, because that depends on the vaccine used and your cat's history.

Records are due at or before check-in. Collecting them on the morning of drop-off is where things go wrong: the clinic is shut, the card is at the other home, or the vaccination was done overseas and never entered anywhere. Two weeks out is comfortable, and our preparation checklist puts the record hunt first for that reason.

Kittens, seniors and cats with a medical reason to skip a vaccine

Kittens have their own line in the terms: at least one core vaccine, and 10 weeks or older on the day they arrive. Our multi-cat and kitten boarding page covers how a young cat's stay is arranged.

Older cats face the same vaccination requirement as any adult. If your senior is on medication or has a condition that changed their vaccine plan, that is the case the vet memo is for. Read how we approach senior cat boarding and, if there is a prescription involved, boarding with medication.

Fleas, ticks and worms: the parasite rule

Parasite prevention covers both internal and external parasites, and there are two ways to meet the rule. Either we administer it at check-in (you can buy it from us or bring an unopened, sealed dose from our approved list), or you show proof that your cat was treated within the past 30 days. If you plan to bring your own dose, ask us for the list before you shop.

Arrival condition is a separate test. A cat that turns up with fleas, ticks or mites, a fungal infection or any sign of active illness does not meet the terms, whatever dose is in the bag. If your cat goes near a balcony, a stairwell or another animal, check the coat and skin a few days before drop-off, not in the taxi.

If you find anything, tell us early and talk to your vet about treatment. We are a boarding hotel, not a veterinary clinic, and we do not diagnose.

FIV and FeLV: what the test changes

The FIV/FeLV result decides where your cat can go. The common play and exercise area is only open to FIV- and FeLV-negative cats, with your prior consent. A cat with a positive result stays in its private suite, and so does a cat with no result on file. Nothing else about the stay changes.

If your cat has not been tested, your vet can arrange it, and it is sensible to raise it at the same visit as the vaccination booster. Send us the result at or before check-in along with the rest of the records.

What happens if your cat does not meet the requirements?

Our terms say cats that do not meet the admission criteria may be refused admission. It is worth knowing what that costs before it happens: under the cancellation policy, a cat rejected at admission is treated like a cancellation within 14 days of check-in, so two nights of room fees are retained in addition to the 5% processing fee. The full policy is on the boarding terms page.

The cheap fix is to check the records now. If you are short on time because of a hospital stay, a move or a fumigation date that will not shift, read our page on emergency and last-minute boarding and message us before you travel with the carrier.

A short checklist before you book

Frequently Asked Questions

1What vaccinations does my cat need to board in Singapore?

At Kuro, your cat must be vaccinated against the core feline viruses (FPV, FCV, FHV), with proof of a booster or a VacciCheck antibody titre. A vet memo is needed if a medical reason prevents vaccination. Kittens need at least one core vaccine and must be 10 weeks or older on check-in.

2Does my cat need flea and worm treatment before boarding?

Parasite prevention, internal and external, is required. Either we administer it at check-in (you can buy it from Kuro or bring an unopened, sealed dose from our approved list), or you show proof of treatment within the past 30 days. Your cat must also arrive free of fleas, ticks and mites.

3Does my cat need an FIV/FeLV test to board?

The result decides access to the common play area, which is used by one household at a time and only by FIV- and FeLV-negative cats with your prior consent. Cats with a positive result still board in their private suite.

4What happens if my cat's records are missing at check-in?

Cats that do not meet the admission criteria may be refused admission. A cat rejected at admission is treated as a cancellation within 14 days, so two nights of room fees are retained plus the 5% processing fee, as set out in the boarding terms.
